Role DescriptionThe Concrete Worker role at Bmb Contracting is a contract, on-site position based in Urbandale, IA. In this role, the Concrete Worker installs and finishes concrete flatwork, including sidewalks, slabs, driveways, and foundations, following project specifications and safety standards. Day-to-day tasks include setting and stripping formwork, placing and leveling concrete, operating or assisting with heavy equipment, and handling ready mix concrete on site.
The Concrete Worker collaborates with supervisors and crew members, maintains tools and equipment, and ensures work areas are kept safe and organized. This role requires working outdoors in varying weather conditions and following all safety and quality protocols.
- Concrete placement and finishing skills, including experience with flatwork and ready mix concrete.
- Formwork and basic carpentry skills for building, setting, and stripping forms to project specifications.
- Ability to safely operate or work around heavy equipment commonly used in concrete and construction projects.
- Knowledge of job site safety practices, PPE use, and adherence to company and regulatory safety standards.
- Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, bending, standing for extended periods, and working outdoors.
- Attention to detail, reliability in showing up on time, and ability to follow instructions and project plans.
- Previous experience in concrete work or general construction is preferred; relevant certifications are a plus.
- Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation to the Urbandale, IA job site.
