Production Operative
Glascoed Based
£22.44 an hour Umbrella OR £16.82 an hour PAYE Inside IR35
12 Month Contract initially. This is a great opportunity to work within one of the UK's leading Defence organisations based in Glascoed. Shift working days and nights and 1 Sunday in 3.
Core Duties- Set up, monitor, and maintain machines and equipment used in production lines.
- Operate and clean assembly and production machinery and also hand-held tools.
- Responsible for feeding raw materials into operating machines.
- Testing finished materials for compliance through gauge tools provided on each line.
- Carrying out visual quality checks.
- Ensure all Safety, Health & Environment regulations are adhered to on site, by following the process in terms of Standard Operating Procedures, shop licenses, limits and Personal Protective Equipment compliance.
- Participate in audits and risk assessments activities when required.
- Ensure that the quality standards for the process are achieved by recording all of the required data via Data Capture Forms using the assigned individual work mark.
- Record reject and waste materials correctly on Data Capture Forms and undertake cycle counting and asset verification activities as required. This will contribute to the performance of the process.
- To raise concerns of any nature within the workplace to Team Coordinator.
- Adhere to shift start and end times including planned breaks.
- Understand and undertake when required energetic stocks accounting in and out of process during the shift.
- Communicate with the Team Coordinators by participating during Daily Start Up Meetings/Safety Quality Cost Delivery People meetings, Personal Objective Plan, Toolbox Talks and monthly briefings as required.
- Written and oral communication skills are essential.
- Basic numeracy and literacy qualifications required (GCSE Maths and English grade 4 & above).
- Basic IT skills are essential.
- Previous manufacturing experience desirable.
- Cleaning work areas and the factory floor and keeping it clean and free from hazardous material.
- Report to the Team Coordinator straight away, if you spot something you think might be hazardous in your workplace.
- The role holder is responsible for taking reasonable care of their own health and safety ensuring high standards for safety, health and environment (SHE) in our organization are maintained.
- This includes; co-operating and following all reasonable instruction, information and training; reporting work-related hazards or incidents and using all equipment for the purpose intended. More detailed responsibilities are captured within the Company Health & Safety Policy (759/OF/016) and the Company Environmental Policy (759/OF/029).
- Good concentration and attention to detail to quickly notice errors on a production or assembly line.
- Participation in continuous improvement and six sigma activities, covering 5s, OEE, SPC Charts removal of waste, reduction in rejects etc.
- Identifying mistakes and working alongside Team Coordinator to correct it.
- Trained to White Belt level in Six Sigma processes or working towards it.

- Compliance to national and international standards and legislation.
- Training, competence and compliance with Standard Operating Procedures.
- Three-way communication skills (sender receiver sender).
- Remain flexible as it will be required to move around processes on a daily, weekly occurrence and to move across different areas as and when required to fulfil business requirements.
- Ability to multitask.
- Enthusiastic, with a 'can do safely' attitude.
- Personally accountable, take ownership of situations that you're involved in.
