Social Worker Family Support Team (North)

Pay rate £38.43 per hour, in line with the All Wales Pledge. This is a locum opportunity within Monmouthshire Social Services' Family Support and Protection Team North, covering Usk, Monmouth, and Abergavenny.

Hybrid working based at Usk, 2 days from home. Contract for an initial 3‑6 months to cover a permanent position.

• Responsible for assessment and planning for children, young people and their families who require social care involvement to ensure health, well-being, and protection from neglect and abuse.
• Complete assessments and progress plans that evidence improvement in welfare within an appropriate time frame.
• Prepare written evidence and progress cases to legal proceedings.
• Manage high‑level statutory intervention cases including child protection, private and public law cases.
• Responsible for adoption orders where required.

• A minimum of 6 months’ experience working in the UK as a registered social worker
• A relevant social work qualification
• Registration with Social Care Wales or Social Work England
• Enhanced DBS, registered on the update service or willingness to apply for a DBS
• 3 years of referencing
• Driving licence with access to a car

• 20 years’ experience in the social work market
• Local agency based in Cardiff
• Welsh‑speaking consultant available for Welsh conversation during the job search
