Part Time Special Education Aide – DUCHESNE COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT

Location: East Elementary

Reports To:

Special Education Teacher / Building Principal. The Special Education Aide provides instructional and behavioral support to students with special needs in various educational settings. This individual assists teachers in implementing individualized education programs (IEPs), promotes positive student engagement, and helps create a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.

• Assist students individually or in small groups to reinforce learning concepts and skills introduced by the teacher.
• Support students with varying abilities, learning styles, and behavioral needs.
• Implement behavior support strategies and follow individualized behavior plans as directed by staff.
• Monitor and record student progress and behavior, reporting observations to the supervising teacher or case manager.
• Help with classroom organization, instructional materials, and preparation of learning activities.
• Provide physical assistance to students when necessary (e.g., mobility support, self-care needs) in accordance with training and district policy.
• Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information and uphold district policies and procedures.
• Participate in professional development and team meetings as required.
