Position: Control Room Operator (CRO)
Location: Milford

Full‑time Description

The O&M Control Room Operator (CRO) monitors assigned power plant equipment, executes assigned processes in a safe, proper, and efficient manner, and provides direction and support to third‑party contractors. This includes, but is not limited to, repair and maintenance of the plant and wellfield equipment, taking readings, providing samples, and ensuring equipment is operating properly and in accordance with approved procedures, guidelines, and operating directives from plant management.

Responsibilities:

Plant Operations
  • Develops strong working knowledge in the operation and maintenance of all plant equipment.
  • Monitors power plant and well field operations through the completion of assigned daily activities.
  • Completes and leads discussions on pre‑job safety briefings, job safety analysis, and safe work permits.
  • Manages and supports the start‑up, operation, and shutdown of all plant, wellfield, and auxiliary equipment, including turbines and generators.
  • Ensures all power plant and well field functions are operating safely and efficiently.
  • Responsible for monitoring and managing incoming vendors, contractors, and deliveries.
  • Troubleshoots, diagnoses, and or repairs control system or equipment failures or anomalies.
  • Monitors performance of plant equipment and takes appropriate corrective action.
  • Creates and maintains logs and required reports detailing equipment readings, lab data, alarms, observation, and notable trends regarding standard and non‑standard plant operation.
  • Report generation for the site on an hourly, daily, and weekly basis.
Company Support
  • Adheres to, supports, and helps enforce all company safety and environmental rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Assists with causality control measures during plant upset conditions, including containment, control, and corrective actions.
  • Completes all required safety, process, equipment, or related trainings by deadlines.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent education.
  • One or more years of experience in an Operations or Maintenance role in a power plant, mining, manufacturing, or related experience.
  • Ability to work 12‑hour, rotating shifts and applicable overtime.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbal and in writing.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, while demonstrating responsible behavior and attention to detail.
  • Ability to enter confined areas and enter difficult‑to‑access areas.
  • Ability to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Ability to reach with hand and arms.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk moderate distances, twist, stoop/bend, squat, kneel, crawl, reach, push, pull, and climb stairs or ladders regularly.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Able to tolerate remote environments, indoor/outdoor work, wildlife, possible dust, dirt, and wind, including any weather typical for all seasons in southern CA, NV, and UT.
  • Ability to don all forms of required Personal Protective Equipment and work at heights of up to 60’.
  • Vision abilities include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee may work near moving machinery and may be exposed to fumes, and airborne particles.
  • Occasionally, in the field, the employee could be exposed to hazardous, toxic, or caustic chemicals, as well as loud areas and exposed hot piping consistent with geothermal power plant operations.
