Position Summary: Command Cyber Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Enterprise Data Center Architect to join our team in support of a client at Hill AFB. As a designated on-site Key Personnel role, you will design, implement, and optimize the on-premises data center infrastructure and hybrid integrations with public cloud platforms. In direct conjunction with the Enterprise Data Center Architect, other architects and leadership team, you will assist in shaping the IT infrastructure's future by aligning technology initiatives with the organization's business strategy and act as the subject matter expert on the physical and virtualized environment, including the data center network, layouts, cooling, power, virtualization platform, and storage systems.
Your focus will be on ensuring the on-premises environment provides seamless, highly reliable, and cost-effective operations in alignment with the overall enterprise architecture.
- Design and optimize the on-premises private cloud architecture, including network layouts, server hardware, power distribution, and cooling systems to ensure maximum efficiency and reliability.
- Architect, implement, and maintain the enterprise virtualization (e.g., VMware vSphere) and containerization platforms, ensuring their scalability, security, and performance.
- Design and manage enterprise storage solutions (SAN/NAS), focusing on performance, data protection, and lifecycle management.
- Conduct comprehensive capacity baseline surveys across the entire data center infrastructure— including rack space, power, cooling, compute, storage, and network; planning reports to forecast growth, identify constraints, and ensure resource availability aligns with business continuity objectives.
- Lead the architecture and strategy for enterprise monitoring, leveraging tools like Solar Winds to ensure proactive detection of performance degradation and service outages.
- Design and manage the enterprise load-balancing and Application Delivery Controller (ADC) infrastructure, utilizing F5 BIG-IP to ensure high availability and optimal traffic distribution.
- Architect and lead the Continuity of Operations & Disaster Recovery (COOP/DR) strategy for all private cloud services, ensuring solutions are designed, tested, and maintained to meet mission RTO/RPO requirements.
- Develop, maintain, and own the Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP) for the data center, defining the standardized engineering framework and governing the process for deviations and non-conforming systems.
- Implement and manage infrastructure automation using tools like Ansible and Terraform to streamline private cloud provisioning and configuration management.
- Collaborate with Cloud, Dev Sec Ops , application, and security teams to provide a resilient and compliant on-premises hosting environment.
- Serve as the highest tier of escalation for troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues across the entire private cloud stack.
- Conduct site surveys for hardware and software viability for on-prem and remote portable operating data centers (PODs).
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Certifications (Required):
- CompTIA Security+ CE or other DoD 8570 IAT Level II compliant certification.
- One or more professional-level data center certifications such as VMware Certified Professional - Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Data Center, or equivalent.
- Preferred
Certifications:- TOGAF® 9 Certification (or similar Enterprise Architecture certification) is highly desired.
- 10+ years of hands‑on experience in data center systems administration, engineering, or architecture.
- Deep expertise in designing and managing enterprise‑scale VMware vSphere environments.
- Extensive experience with enterprise storage arrays (e.g., Cohesity, Dell EMC, Pure) and SAN/NAS protocols.
