This position is being recruited under 10 USC 1599f into the Cyber Excepted Service and does NOT convey eligibility to be converted to the Competitive Service. It has been identified as a position necessary to carry out and support the mission of the US Cyber Command. It is in the Professional Work Category at the Senior Work Level within the CES Occupational Structure.

It is located in the DISA Global Field Command, Infrastructure & Services Division (DG42/451/452).

• Performs work that involves planning, analysis, design, development, testing, quality assurance, configuration, installation, implementation, integration, operation, maintenance, and/or management of DoD communication/networked systems.
• Provides technical guidance and oversight to government and contracted teams with responsibilities of fault isolation, configuration control, mission assurance, performance, and security.
• Assesses new communications systems requirements and capabilities, performance deficiencies, and interoperability requirements.
• Identifies technology enhancements applicable to information transfer services being provided by the Enterprise Infrastructure.

Must be a U.S. Citizen. Males born after 12‑31‑59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service. This national security position may require access to classified information and requires a favorable suitability review and security clearance. Failure to maintain security eligibility may result in termination. In accordance with the DoD 8140 policy series, the position is subject to completing Foundational Qualifications in 9 months and completing Residential Qualification requirements overall in 12 months.

This is a drug‑testing designated position. This position has been designated as Mission Essential; the incumbent may work from alternate locations for extended periods of time if mission requirements dictate. This position may require shift work.

  : briefing mid‑level management and IT staff on the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the communication of technical information to a non‑technical audience.
• Problem Solving
  : identifying alternatives to address complex information technology‑related issues by gathering and applying information from a variety of sources that provide a number of potential solutions.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement, applicants must possess ≥1 year of experience that demonstrates the competencies necessary for immediate success. Experience may be paid, unpaid, volunteer, or military service. Qualifying experience for this position includes:

• Experience managing configuration, changes, events, performance, and problems within transport and IP enterprise networks.
• Experience integrating operational functions into networks to ensure mission‑assurance engineering across partner domains.
