Production Planner - R

Northrop Grumman, Space Systems

Promontory, Utah

Our team is seeking a Production Planner to support our Nozzle Fabrication Value Stream facilities in Promontory, Utah. In this role you will coordinate materials, schedule and maintain manufacturing orders, ensuring production milestones meet inventory, quality and timeline requirements.

Duties Include:

  • Create, issue, manage and maintain manufacturing orders to control and support production on the floor.
  • Utilize and manage the ERP Costpoint system to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials in time to meet production schedules.
  • Interface with Material Planning to ensure parts are in inventory in time to support the production plan.
  • Ensure all materials needed for manufacturing orders are picked, delivered to point of use and consumed accurately in the MRP system.
  • Advise management of work‑in‑progress status, material availability and potential production problems to ensure personnel, equipment, materials and services are available as needed.
  • Schedule and expedite movement of parts via move orders, stock transfers and shipping requests.
  • Seek process and planning feedback from operations and incorporate into planning where possible.
  • Reconcile inventory problems by leveraging relationships with operations, processing engineering, stores, receiving, quality control, end‑item, shipping and material planning.
  • Assist in implementing changes in the MRP system and planning via the change‑control process.

Basic Qualifications – Level 01:

  • HS diploma and 4 years experience in operations, operations management, process manufacturing or engineering support; or a BS degree with 0 years experience.
  • Excellent computer skills with ability to become an expert in the company’s MRP Costpoint system, electronic shop‑floor work‑instruction software and document/engineering management software.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and quality controls.
  • Excellent productivity and organizational skills.
  • Analytical problem‑solving ability and capability to develop solutions.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and execute quickly at the highest quality.
  • Experience working with others to improve processes and overall efficiencies.

  • HS diploma and 6 years experience in operations, operations management, process manufacturing or engineering support; or a BS degree with 2 years experience.
  • Excellent computer skills with ability to become an expert in the company’s MRP Costpoint system, electronic shop‑floor work‑instruction software and document/engineering management software.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and quality controls.
  • Excellent productivity and organizational skills.
  • Analytical problem‑solving ability and capability to develop solutions.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and execute quickly at the highest quality.
  • Experience working with others to improve processes and overall efficiencies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in MRP systems, inventory management, and managing manufacturing orders.
  • Experience in aerospace or defense manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with government change‑control procedures (NASA, DoD, Air Force, Navy, etc.).
  • Understanding or certification in Lean Manufacturing.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, specifications and plans.
  • Proven history of leveraging multiple departments to solve complex issues.

Primary salary range (Level 01): $49,400 – $74,000.

Secondary salary range (Level 02): $59,600 – $89,400.
