This WG-5003-06 Gardener position is located at Capitol Reef National Park in Torrey, Utah. It is a Temporary, Seasonal appointment not to exceed 1,039 hours. Anticipated Entry on Duty (EOD):

Capitol Reef National Park, Torrey, UT
Duties- Operating and maintaining mowers, trimmers, chainsaws, and other gardening equipment.
- Using automated sprinkler systems, including programming, adjusting watering cycles, and system maintenance.
- Calculating, mixing, and applying fertilizers to plants.
- Keeping tools and equipment clean and in safe working order.
The work requires frequent walking, standing, pushing of carts and wheelbarrows, bending, and stooping. Occasionally you may climb ladders to prune or trim vegetation and lift heavy objects. The work is performed outside or in a greenhouse, subject to sun, cold, rain, chemical dust, and pesticide/herbicide spray. Protective clothing, gloves, boots, and glasses are required.
Requirements- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
- Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males.
- Direct Deposit required.
- Housing and uniform provided; a uniform allowance will be provided.
- Work schedule may include evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime, and occasional overnight travel.
- May be required to complete training and obtain/maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority.
- May be required to complete training and operate a four‑wheel drive vehicle.
- Valid driver’s license required for operation of official or private motor vehicle; submission of motor vehicle records required.
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
- Ability to do the work of a Gardener with normal supervision, including soil preparation, operating riding mowers and sprinkler systems.
- Technical practices:
Interpretation of instructions and specifications. - Knowledge of materials and tools.
- Dexterity and safety proficiency.
There is no substitution of education for experience for Wage Grade (WG) positions.
