Equipment Operator – PMG Vegetation Control
Job OverviewWe are seeking skilled individuals to join our team for the winter and spring seasons. Experience in farming, landscaping, or operating heavy machinery is required. This role offers hands‑on experience with unique equipment, competitive pay, and a fast‑paced environment. Candidates must troubleshoot basic mechanical issues, perform field maintenance, and keep equipment operational in challenging conditions.
Season: 02/09/2026 (estimated start for training) – 05/01/2026 (estimated end). May continue in other environmental departments based on performance.
What You'll Do- Operate a Marsh Master Tractor Machine (similar to a skid steer) to trample and mow Phragmites, an invasive reed grass, restoring the natural landscape.
- Conduct pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections to ensure the equipment is safe, operational, and ready for the job.
- Perform basic field maintenance on machinery to minimize and prevent downtime and keep operations running smoothly.
- Work toward specific acreage requirements during each shift, ensuring timelines and daily production goals are being met.
- Work outdoors in winter conditions, completing tasks independently after receiving training.
- Follow simple instructions and use GPS tools to map and manage treatment areas.
- Report to your team lead.
- Minimum age of 21 years old
- Must have a clean driving record
- Must have a High School Diploma or GED
- 5 to 10 years of previous experience in heavy equipment operation.
- Mechanical proficiencies in heavy equipment maintenance.
- Must possess a valid driver's license (CDL‑A is a plus).
- Must be comfortable working in winter conditions.
- Strong work ethic.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to handle physical workload.
- Bi‑weekly pay
- Four‑day weekends
- Pay: $27–$35/hr, above market average.
- Hours: Full‑time, three 12‑hour shifts per week. Shifts are Monday‑Wednesday or Thursday‑Saturday, with the following options: 3:00 AM‑3:00 PM or 3:00 PM‑3:00 AM.
PMG Vegetation requires all candidates to pass a background check and drug screening before employment. All candidates who receive a conditional job offer must undergo and pass a background check in compliance with federal, state, and local laws. Pre‑employment drug testing is mandatory and must be passed before employment begins. Failure to pass the required background check or drug screening will result in disqualification from employment.
