We are looking for our next Stargazing Guides for Bryce Canyon, Utah! We are looking for 3 to 5 guides for the upcoming season!
AboutBryce Canyon Stargazing offers guided stargazing experiences that blend science, culture, and storytelling using high-powered telescopes and passionate, knowledgeable guides (that could be you!). We’re dedicated to sharing the magic of the night sky in a dedicated international dark sky location just outside of Bryce Canyon National Park.
Responsibilities- Lead stargazing tours with confidence and enthusiasm
- Set up, care for, and take down telescopes and gear
- Create and maintain a safe, fun, and unforgettable atmosphere that helps guests feel comfortable, curious, and inspired.
- Check-in guests and engage with them using a friendly, positive attitude and excellent customer service skills.
- Assist with guest needs throughout the evening, from answering astronomy questions to offering hot chocolate, blankets, or a helpful hand in the dark.
- Transport guests to/from local hotels
- Other duties may arise
- Presentation and public speaking skills
- Basic astronomy knowledge (or willingness to learn!)
- Ability to take complicated knowledge and explain in a simple, fun, and engaging way
- Reliability
- Time management skills
- Attention to detail
- Flexibility and adaptability to guest needs, weather changes, and unexpected changes
- Problem solving
- Communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Comfort operating or learning to operate telescopes and related equipment
- Trustworthiness and care when working with expensive astronomy equipment
- Physical ability to lift equipment, stand/walk for extended periods
Location:
Bryce Canyon City, UT (Local Housing available for a reduced rate)
Guides: $25–27/hr
Support Staff: $20–25/hr
Pay depending on experience. Additional Pay for guides with Foreign Language Skills.
Year-round position with peak season during spring, summer, and fall.
Full or Part-time available, depending on availability.
Tours are in the evening but staff will be needed during the day during peak season
Stargazing under world-class dark skies, tips, fun team environment, and the chance to help people experience the universe in a whole new way.
