Summary

As a Rental Technician & Facilities Support team member, you’ll play a vital role in the daily operations of the Mountain School. This position requires a unique combination of physical endurance, technical skill, and mental agility. You’ll be responsible for outfitting guests with ski and snowboard equipment, maintaining outdoor teaching areas, and supporting various logistical needs, all while delivering exceptional guest service in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

WHAT

YOU’LL DO
  • Assist guests with rental equipment, requiring attention to detail, technical accuracy, and clear communication.
  • Use point-of-sale systems to process transactions and manage inventory - demanding mental focus and multitasking.
  • Set up and maintain outdoor facilities, including fencing, signage, and teaching aids - tasks that require physical strength, coordination, and resilience in extreme weather.
  • Operate beginner lifts and drive shuttles when needed, requiring alertness, safety awareness, and calm under pressure.
  • Deliver consistent, friendly customer service to guests of all ages, often during high-volume, high-stress periods.
  • Provide uniform support for Mountain School staff using digital systems.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth guest experience.
  • Keep all work spaces (indoor and outdoor) clean, organized, and safe.
WHAT YOU NEED TO GET THE JOB DONE
  • A confident, approachable demeanor with strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to retain and communicate detailed information about Mountain School programs, rentals, and resort services.
  • Proficiency with computers and software including Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and point-of-sale systems.
  • Experience with RTP or similar rental systems is a plus.
  • Previous experience in a ski/snowboard rental shop is desirable.
  • Comfortable using hand tools and power tools (e.g., drills, augers).
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, stay organized, and perform under pressure.
  • Must pass a technical certification for ski binding fitting.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in cold, snowy, and variable conditions, often early in the morning.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform repetitive physical tasks such as shoveling, bending, and carrying.
  • Must be able to travel up the canyon during the early hours and stay overnight at the resort if needed.
  • Must comply with uniform and scheduling requirements, including weekends and holidays.

  • 5-day work week, including weekends and holidays.
  • Typical shift: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Season runs from Mid-November to Mid-April
  • Part-time positions may be available.
PHYSICAL & MENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is split between indoor retail environments and outdoor mountain conditions. Requires standing for long periods, frequent lifting, and working in cold, wet, and windy weather. Frequent interruptions and shifting priorities require mental flexibility, emotional regulation, and task-switching ability. High guest volume and time-sensitive tasks can create stressful situations - you’ll need to stay calm, focused, and solution-oriented.
