Dairy Queen Shift lead

General Manager / Assistant Manager

The Shift Lead is responsible for supporting the restaurant’s daily operations and leading hourly team members during assigned shifts. Working in coordination with the General and Assistant Managers, this role ensures the restaurant operates efficiently and delivers an exceptional guest experience. The Shift Lead must be proficient in all crew-level positions and serve as a role model in service, cleanliness, and teamwork.

• Lead and manage assigned areas of the restaurant during scheduled shifts.
• Ensure the restaurant is properly staffed and organized according to shift schedules through efficient task delegation, break rotations, and job assignments.
• Supervise team members to maintain high standards of food safety, cleanliness, and service.

• Assist in onboarding and training new crew members in all areas of restaurant operations.
• Provide coaching and feedback to hourly employees to support ongoing development and performance improvement.

• Ensure all guest service standards are met or exceeded, including quality, value, and cleanliness.
• Handle minor guest complaints with professionalism and escalated more serious concerns to management when necessary.

• Support the execution of instore promotions and marketing efforts by ensuring proper team communication and guest engagement at the point of sale.

• Complete shift based cash handling procedures and accountability reports with accuracy and timeliness.

• Foster a positive and professional work environment by promoting teamwork, respect, and open communication.
• Maintain consistent communication with management regarding shift performance, employee concerns, and operational issues.

• Perform the duties of all hourly, nonmanagement positions as needed.
• Assist with special projects or tasks assigned by management.
• Serve as a dependable point of contact and decision maker during shift operations.

• Ensure compliance with all company policies, operational standards, and food safety regulations.
• Lead by example in personal appearance, punctuality, and professional conduct.
• Contribute to a cooperative and efficient work environment that promotes employee morale and productivity.
