Reeves Construction Company is currently seeking an experienced individual for the position of Asphalt Paver Screed Operator based out of our Savannah, GA location. The successful candidate for this role will have an uncompromising focus on safety excellence. Asphalt Paver Screed Operator's primary function is to adjust the screed height on the paving machine to ensure proper depth, grade and finish.

The Asphalt Paver Screed Operator is also responsible for ensuring the consistency of the asphalt mat and the overall ride quality of the finished pavement.

• Needs to have the ability to correctly set up paver screed, lay a uniform thickness.
• An accurate and working knowledge of the paver screed (ex. correct speed, check on material coming out of truck, straight lines)
• The ability to take a leadership role on the crew
• The willingness and ability to keep paver and screed maintained and clean
• The willingness to work nights and weekends
• The ability to operate equipment in a safe and consistent manner

EDUCATION and/or

EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combinations of education and experience.

LANGUAGE

SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to climb onto and up and down a machine several times a day.
• Must be able to sit in a machine and operate it for several hours without stopping.
• Must withstand vibration from job site conditions as well as noise from other equipment.
• Must be able to use arms, hands, and feet in repetitive motions.
• Must be able to perform manual duties, such as placing paint drums on the vehicle.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach and signal with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell.
