About the role

The Plumber Journeyman is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing plumbing systems in industrial projects. This role ensures compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and project specifications. The Plumber Journeyman collaborates with supervisors, engineers, and other trades to ensure efficient project execution while maintaining high-quality workmanship and regulatory adherence.

Essential Duties, Roles, Responsibilities & Procedures:

  • Project Review: Analyze blueprints, specifications, and work orders to determine project requirements.
  • Material Preparation: Select and prepare pipes, fittings, and materials for installation.
  • System Installation: Install and maintain plumbing systems, including water supply, gas lines, and drainage.
  • System Testing: Conduct pressure and leak tests to ensure system integrity.
  • Quality Control: Verify installations meet industry standards and company quality requirements.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow OSHA and company safety regulations, including PPE use.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Maintain tools and equipment properly.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to plumbing codes and regulations.
  • Documentation: Keep accurate records of work, inspections, and materials.
  • Collaboration: Work with supervisors, engineers, and trades for project efficiency.
  • Training & Mentorship: Assist in training junior plumbers to develop their skills.
  • Communication: Maintain clear communication with project managers and team members.
  • Qualifications & Experience:

  • Education & Certifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of a plumbing apprenticeship or vocational training preferred.
  • OSHA 10 certification required.
  • Journeyman or Master Plumber License, if mandated by regulations.
  • Experience:
  • At least 3+ years in industrial plumbing installation and maintenance.
  • Experience with welding, brazing, soldering, or threading pipes is advantageous.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Ability to read and interpret plumbing schematics, blueprints, and drawings.
  • Knowledge of pipe materials (copper, PVC, PEX, cast iron, etc.) and applications.
  • Familiarity with hydrostatic and pneumatic testing procedures.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools specific to plumbing.
  • Problem-solving skills: Troubleshoot system issues effectively.
  • Teamwork and collaboration: Coordinate with trades and supervisors.
  • Communication skills: Provide project updates and document work clearly.
  • Attention to detail: Precision in measuring, cutting, and installing pipes.
  • Workplace safety commitment: Adhere to OSHA and company safety guidelines.
  • Reliability and adaptability: Work effectively in dynamic industrial environments.
  • Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

  • Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, and working in confined spaces.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights.
  • Primarily field-based, on active construction and industrial sites.
  • Exposure to outdoor weather, high noise, and hazardous materials.
  • Use of PPE required.
  • Travel Requirements: As needed for project locations.
