Metrology Specialist – FARO Laser Tracker (Aerospace Tooling)

Step into a day where precision shapes flight. In our Quality Department at a leading tooling company in Shelby Township, MI, you will own the dimensional verification of machines, fixtures, and complex structures that support aerospace manufacturing. Using a FARO Laser Tracker and Verisurf, you will transform measurements into clear insights that keep programs moving.

What you will do
  • Deliver custom laser tracker measurement services on machines, fixtures, and structural components for aerospace products.
  • Create easy-to-read inspection reports with concise narratives, 3D visuals, and organized data tables.
  • Document inspection results thoroughly, maintaining traceability and configuration control.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering to align on deadlines and quality expectations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What you bring
  • Strong math foundation and clear verbal/written communication.
  • Hands‑on experience with Verisurf software.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with the FARO Laser Tracker (required).
  • Fluency in GD&T and confidence reading blueprints.
  • Excellent organization, follow‑through, and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to manage deadlines and prioritize workload.
  • Aptitude to learn additional software tools as needed.
  • Aerospace industry exposure is a plus; training is available.
Education and training
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; college coursework preferred but not required.
  • Verisurf software experience.
  • FARO Laser Tracker experience.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
