General SummaryThe ASC Registered Nurse – PACU is an essential member of the health care team who is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and coordinating the care of patients in the Ambulatory Surgery Center. The RN consistently delivers high-quality patient care during the pre- and post-operative phase of the patient’s stay in the surgery center.
Responsibilities- Plans and organizes the daily activities of the Pre-operative and PACU areas in accordance with instructions of the clinical director, physicians and the center’s administrative procedures.
- Responsible for the provision of a safe environment by following the post anesthesia standards of care.
- Communicates the patient’s current status to the appropriate parties throughout the continuum of care.
- Performs interventions to maintain the status of the patient’s genitourinary, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, endocrine, respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurological systems and fluid, electrolyte, and acid-base balances at or above baseline levels.
- Performs interventions to protect the patient from surgical site infection.
- Assesses and provides appropriate and knowledgeable instructions/training/education to patients and family members throughout the perioperative process.
- Reports and documents all pertinent observations and nursing interventions.
- Performs other position related duties as assigned.
- Employees shall adhere to high standards of ethical conduct and will comply with all applicable laws and regulations, including Solaris Health Code of Conduct, HIPAA, and annual compliance training.
- RN license and certification as required by state.
- BLS certification required; ACLS required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Delivers exceptional patient service throughout all interactions.
- Knowledge in healthcare systems operations such as EMR.
- Complies with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.
- Complies with all health and safety policies of the organization.
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
- 2 years of pre-operative/post-anesthesia experience preferred.

Carrying Weight Frequency: 1–25 lbs frequent 34%–66%; 26–50 lbs occasionally 2%–33%. Pushing/Pulling Frequency: 1–25 lbs seldom up to 2%; 100+ lbs seldom up to 2%. Lifting:
Floor to chest 1–25 lbs occasional 2%–33%; 26–50 lbs seldom up to 2%;
Floor to waist similar.
