Spring semester internship at Emmett Green
Are you passionate about data science, Machine Learning (ML) and the energy transition? Then this internship is for you!

Emmett Green is seeking a data science student to join our Energy Management System (EMS) team. Working in a scale‑up company, you will have direct impact and receive responsibilities from day one. Emmett Green helps realize renewable energy projects, grid scale batteries and energy hubs. Not just by talking about it, but mainly by taking action! This accelerates the energy transition, enables further sustainability, and ensures security of energy supply.

Our Energy Management System helps by monitoring and controlling sustainable energy flows using vast amounts of data, optimization algorithms and forecasting models.

As an intern in our EMS team, you will contribute to reshaping the future of our energy system by improving the forecasting models used in our EMS. You will gain hands‑on experience across the full data science workflow. From data engineering, to feature selection, to validation and deployment. Your primary responsibilities will include:

Developing new forecasting models for a wide range of applications (electricity prices, renewable generation, etc.)

Improving existing statistical and machine learning models by exploring new features, tuning hyperparameters and testing new model architectures.

Investigating new data sources, building pipelines and interacting with databases

Researching and implementing innovative ML/AI models

Collaborating closely with the EMS team to integrate your improved forecasting models into our production systems.

Who are you?

Currently enrolled in a data science related degree (e.g. Econometrics, AI/ML, Computer science) at BSc or MSc level

Strong foundation in statistics, probability, and time series analysis

Proficiency in Python

What do we like?

A passion for renewable energy, solving grid congestion and accelerating the energy transition

Experience with frameworks like scikit-learn, Light

GBM/XGBoost, Tensor Flow/PyTorch for implementing machine learning/deep learning models.

What we offer

Emmett Green offers a collaborative and innovative work environment, full of young people excited to make a difference. You’ll be located at our Delft office at the Kanaalweg with a hybrid work style (some days at the office, some at home). You will be given ample opportunity to learn and grow within the team. The internship will have a minimum duration of 5 months (start date and duration of internship to be discussed), and we offer a compensation of €500 gross per month.

On top of that, we offer a lunch and afternoon drinks on Fridays!
