The Opportunity
We're currently supporting an innovative Med Tech scale-up in Utrecht that is developing a next-generation autonomous robotic medical device. Combining advanced imaging, robotics, AI, and sophisticated mechatronics, this product is set to make a real impact within healthcare.
As a Test Engineer , you'll play a key role in validating and improving a complex mechatronic system, working closely with software, hardware, and robotics engineers. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of hardware and software and wants to contribute to a highly innovative product.
Responsibilities
Define, develop, and execute verification and validation strategies for a complex mechatronic system
Perform hardware-software integration and system-level testing
Design, maintain, and improve Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) test environments
Develop Python-based tooling, regression tests, and automated test frameworks
Support the transition from manual testing towards scalable test automation
Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, including software, hardware, and robotics specialists
Analyse test results and contribute to continuous product improvement
Requirements
3+ years of experience in testing complex mechatronic, embedded, or high-tech systems
Strong Python skills for scripting, tooling, and test automation
Experience with system-level testing and hardware/software integration
Background in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Nice to Have
Experience with robotic systems, preferably involving 6 Degrees of Freedom (6 DOF) robotic arms
Experience with in Med Tech, Semiconductor, Aerospace, Automotive, or other highly regulated high-tech industries
Familiarity with verification & validation processes in complex engineering environments
