Overview I am supporting a global automation engineering organisation delivering advanced control and automation projects across manufacturing and process industries.
We are looking for an experienced Automation Engineer with strong PLC expertise (Allen-Bradley / Rockwell preferred) and proven capability across the full project lifecycle, from software development through to on‑site commissioning and system integration.
This role requires a hands‑on engineer who is comfortable working both in software development environments and directly in the field with electrical and instrumentation systems.
Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and commission PLC and HMI software (primarily Allen‑Bradley / Rockwell platforms such as Control Logix and Studio 5000)
Develop automation solutions from scratch based on functional requirements and system specifications
Participate in full project lifecycle delivery including design, build, FAT, SAT, installation, and commissioning
Work on‑site to support installation, troubleshooting, and system start‑up activities across Europe and international project locations
Perform field diagnostics, fault finding, and system optimisation on live industrial equipment
Support electrical and instrumentation integration including sensors, actuators, drives, and control panels
Collaborate with electrical engineers, panel builders, and mechanical teams to ensure system integration and performance
Contribute to technical documentation including test procedures, commissioning reports, and as‑built documentation
Required Skills & Experience Strong experience with PLC systems (Allen‑Bradley / Rockwell Control Logix / Compact Logix, Studio 5000 preferred, other automation softwares also accepted)
Proven ability to develop PLC software from scratch and design based on customer input
Hands‑on experience in industrial commissioning environments
Strong understanding of field wiring, instrumentation, and control systems
Experience with FAT/SAT testing and on‑site troubleshooting
Exposure to electrical control panels and industrial cabinet environments
Ability to work in multidisciplinary engineering teams on international projects
Willingness to travel extensively (approx. 50%)
Siemens PLC experience (S7 / TIA Portal)
Experience in system integration within automotive, manufacturing, or process industries
Electrical or instrumentation engineering background
Experience working with OEMs or system integrators
