AI Engineer, Machine Learning/ ML Engineer, Data Scientist
Introduction
Do you want to build AI solutions that are not just smart, but actually impact people’s lives? Are you ready to apply your skills in a place where your work directly affects millions of people in the Netherlands? And does it excite you to help integrate AI from the ground up into a modern platform that will become the backbone of an entire industry?
Then this is a role worth exploring.
OrganizationYou’ll be joining a stable, mid-sized organization with a big impact. Every improvement you make directly affects the systems used by people, intermediaries, and end users — and ultimately influences the lives of millions of people across the Netherlands.
The culture is open, technically sharp, and future-focused. There’s a clear AI agenda, smart people to work with, and plenty of space to build high-quality solutions. You’ll be part of an internal AI team alongside fellow engineers, collaborating closely with product, architecture, cloud, and data. In the first few months, you’ll work intensively with an external AI partner — after that, you’ll take the lead yourself.
FunctionIn this role, you’ll develop and integrate AI solutions — from LLMs to machine learning models — into a brand-new, scalable platform. You ensure that these solutions work reliably in real-world conditions: robust, well-monitored, and seamlessly connected to existing backend and data systems. Together with engineers, product owners and data specialists, you’ll build practical, future-proof AI applications that improve processes while staying intuitive for users.
You’ll also help shape the technical direction, contributing to model monitoring, training workflows, and continuous improvement of AI components.
- 3+ years of experience in AI or ML engineering, with a proven track record of deploying models in production.
- Solid knowledge of modern AI tooling — including LLMs, vector search, embeddings, and prompt engineering.
- Comfortable working with cloud environments (preferably AWS) and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to translate business needs into practical, scalable solutions.
- A pragmatic, ownership-driven mindset with a focus on quality and long-term impact.
- A total compensation package of up to €90.000 per year, based on your experience.
- A hybrid working setup — with at least two in-office days per week and flexibility beyond that.
- A tech environment built for the future, where AI is not a side project but a core strategic focus.
- A collaborative, down-to-earth team full of sharp minds who enjoy tackling real-world challenges together.
- Plenty of room to grow — with time, trust, and support to keep learning, experimenting, and evolving in your role.
