Software Engineer -BI and Data

Software Engineer (BI & Data) – hybrid contract role based in Utrecht

This is a hybrid Software Engineer role with a strong Business Intelligence focus. While you will own and maintain customer-facing Amazon Quick Sight dashboards, most of your time will be spent on backend software engineering and data engineering tasks using Java, Python, SQL, and AWS. You’ll work within an AI & Data team responsible for collecting, enriching, storing, and visualizing external data.

We need someone who can adapt to switching between dashboard development, backend engineering, and data engineering, and has experience working within AWS-based data platforms. The ideal candidate is comfortable working 2 days per week in the office and can commit to 40 hours a week.

• Develop and maintain customer-facing BI dashboards using Amazon Quick Sight.
• Contribute to backend development in Java and Python.
• Build and maintain data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes.
• Complex queries in SQL, performance tuning, and working with warehouse data models
• Ensure data quality and support analytical data models.
• Collaborate with AI, Data, and Software Engineers across the full data lifecycle.
• Communicate technical concepts and data insights to both technical and business stakeholders.

• Experience in building dashboards tools such as:
  Amazon Quick Sight and PowerBI, Tableau, Looker etc.
• Engineering experience within Java and/or Python.
• Advanced SQL skills, including query optimization.
• Experience working with data warehouses, data pipelines and transformations.
• AWS services such as: S3, Glue, Athena, Redshift
• Experience with data scraping and ETL/ELT pipelines.
• CI/CD and cloud-native development.
• Experience working in agile, cross-functional engineering teams.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
