HEAD OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Thomas Alleyne’s High School in Uttoxeter is offering a permanent position for a Head of PE, required from January 2027 or earlier if available. The role is part of the Innovate2

Educate Partnership and provides strategic direction for the department, leading the curriculum team and supporting colleagues through expert subject knowledge, high‑quality leadership and a shared commitment to excellence.

• Lead the teaching and development of Physical Education across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, including Core PE and BTEC Sport.

• Drive exceptional student progress and attainment, with a focus on outstanding outcomes in BTEC Sport and encouraging increased uptake at Key Stage 5.

• Develop and implement a vibrant programme of extra‑curricular sport and enrichment opportunities that promote participation, develop talent and foster a lifelong love of physical activity.

• Provide a clear vision for curriculum development and maintain high expectations for both staff and students.

• Support professional development, ensuring continuous improvement in classroom practice and leadership skills.

• Proven commitment to securing exceptional student progress and attainment in Physical Education.

• Passion for physical education and a track record of inspiring students to achieve high standards.

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a diverse curriculum team.

• Experience in curriculum development and professional development within an educational setting.

Salary: TMS – UPS3 plus TLR 2.5 – £6,046 per annum.

Salary and terms are competitive and determined in accordance with the Local Education Authority pay structures.
