We are looking for an enthusiastic Gastroenterologist to lead our established IBD service and manage an existing cohort of IBD patients. The post comprises 7.875 Direct Clinical Activities and 2.125 Supporting Professional Activities, includes a gastro‑intestinal bleeding rota (currently covering THH and Harefield Hospital on a 1 week in 7 basis) and is a target 7.875JC post.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the Inflammatory Bowel Disease service and provide high‑quality gastro‑enterological service to residents of Hillingdon.
- Vet general gastroenterology referrals and review patients in clinic (face‑to‑face, telephone and virtual).
- Provide emergency out‑of‑hours gastrointestinal cover to Harefield Hospital and Hillingdon Hospital as part of the bleeding rota (currently non‑resident, with future on‑site commitment possible).
- Co‑run inpatient and outpatient services for gastro‑enterology, including an advisory service for colleagues.
- Participate in the training and professional development of medical and other professional staff; contribute to postgraduate, undergraduate, and GP education programmes.
- Continue personal professional development (CPD) and re‑validation, support the department to achieve JAG accreditation, and perform or lead at least one medical audit per year.
- Provide clear evidence of SPA activities, including clinical and educational supervision, audit, and personal CPD, and include these in the annual appraisal.
- Develop areas of special interest in gastro‑enterology that align with service needs.
- Participate in the medical advisory and liaison work of the Consultant Staff Committee and other relevant committees (e.g., Clinical Governance, Safeguarding Adults, Transfusion, Resuscitation, Medicines Management).
- Collaborate with the Lead Clinician and Senior Nurse Management Team in developing and implementing department policies.
- Assist in the recruitment and appointment of junior medical staff and support their deployment and use of Trust digital systems.
- Full GMC registration.
- Holding a CCT in Gastroenterology and GIM or being within six months of CCT entitlement.
- Experience working within the NHS.
