This well-established college is continuing to invest in its Engineering provision and is looking to appoint a High Skills Technician within Electrical and Electronic Engineering. With modern laboratories including Power & Robotics, PLCs & Mechatronics, and Electronics labs, the college offers a professional and well‑resourced environment alongside strong staff support and development opportunities.
In this role, you will maintain and service specialist engineering equipment, support lecturers in preparing practical sessions, and supervise students within laboratory environments. You will play a key role in ensuring equipment, health and safety compliance, and resources are maintained to the highest standard to enable outstanding teaching and learning.
This is a brilliant opportunity for an engineer who enjoys hands‑on technical work but wants to move into a more stable, education‑focused environment.
The Role:- Maintaining and servicing electrical and electronic engineering equipment
- Supporting Power, Robotics, PLC, Mechatronics and Electronics laboratories
- Assisting lecturers with preparing materials and setting up practical sessions
- Supervising students during practical lessons and project work
- Conducting and supporting risk assessments to ensure full H&S compliance
- Managing stock levels, tools, consumables and purchase requests
- Ensuring laboratories are clean, organised and fully operational
- Working collaboratively with the wider Engineering team
- Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering
- At least 2 years' experience working with electrical equipment, PLCs, robotics or mechatronics
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety within workshop/lab environments
- Industrial experience within Electrical/Electronic Engineering
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to work effectively with young people and as part of a team
