Fixed-term Junior Sister/Charge Nurse post for 12 months in the Emergency Department at The Hillingdon Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder supports the ED Matron and senior sisters in running the department, assessing care needs and developing care programmes with the multidisciplinary team. The role adds teaching and supervising qualified and unqualified staff, and holding responsibility for a group of patients while taking charge of the department when needed.
Current NMC registration is required.
- Supporting the ED Matron and senior sisters in running the Emergency Department
- Ensuring patients are seen, treated, discharged or transferred within the four-hourly emergency access standards
- Assessing patients' care needs
- Developing, implementing and evaluating programmes of care with the multidisciplinary team
- Teaching and supervising qualified and unqualified staff
- Acting as a role model for junior staff
- Taking responsibility and accountability for a group of patients
- Taking charge of the department when necessary
- Degree or diploma in nursing, or equivalent experience
- Emergency & Unscheduled Care Course or equivalent
- Current NMC registration
- Knowledge of current emergency care issues
- Excellent communication skills
- Commitment to self-development
- Flexibility
- Advanced Life Support course
- Leadership course
- ATNC/TNCC
- Experience of audit, benchmarking and standard setting
- Leading, training and motivating a team of staff
- High cost area allowance (HCAA) included in the salary
