At Massachusetts Equine Clinic, our externship aims to provide hands-on experience across various diagnostic and treatment disciplines. As an extern, you will encounter a wide range of cases including medicine, surgery, acupuncture, and lameness exams. Our goal is to give students a realistic experience of a successful ambulatory practice.
Practice Type: 100% equine practice, primarily ambulatory, with outpatient and inpatient exams and treatments.
Facilities: The clinic has a four-stall hospital, digital radiography, endoscopy, gastroscopy, ultrasonography, shock wave therapy, and dental equipment.
Case Load: Mainly performance horses, including dressage, eventing, show, and pleasure horses.
Case Types: 60% Lameness, 20% Medicine, 20% Surgery.
Located in Uxbridge, Massachusetts, our practice covers southern Massachusetts and northern Rhode Island, near Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine, a large animal referral center.
Prerequisite: Must be a veterinary medicine student in the clinical portion of their education.
Veterinary students in the clinical phase are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. for stipend details and HERE for program information.
