At North Bay Health the Wound Care Nurse Practitioner (Advance Practice Provider- APP) has the responsibility, accountability, and the authority to deliver safe, effective, quality, excellent nursing care according to the philosophy and goals/objectives of the Department of Nursing. The APP, utilizing the Jean Watson’s Theory of Caring, the Relationship Based Care, and the North Bay Health’s professional nursing practice model assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care for all patients assigned to his/her care.
The APP makes determinations regarding the progress of the patient toward goals and utilizes a therapeutic professional relationship with the patient/family and interdisciplinary team to facilitate the promotion, maintenance, and restoration of health. Care is provided according to the specific physiologic, developmental and psychosocial needs of the patient. Supports the mission, vision, values and expectation of excellence of the organization.
In addition, the Wound Care Nurse Practitioner is a registered professional nurse with advanced education, knowledge, and expertise in clinical practice in this area of specialty.
Functions as a resource to staff, management, and other health team members regarding nursing practice for specific patients and/or client populations requiring skin care including but not limited to preventive measures in this specialty. The APP works in collaboration with directors, clinical managers and other CPM/NP positions including physician/ physician assistant partners. Provides and directs nursing care in both inpatient and outpatient clinic settings which promotes and improves the well‑being of the patient consistent with his/her clinical education and in accordance with the rules adopted by the California Board of Registered Nursing.

Graduate of an accredited nursing program with a Master of Science in Nursing degree or higher, major in Acute Care or Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program required. Graduate from an accredited school of professional registered nursing.
CertificationCurrent California RN license required. Current California licensure as a Nurse Practitioner required. Certification by the American Nurse Credentialing Center as an ACNP/AGACNP or other BRN approved body required. Current BLS and ACLS certification required. NP obtains a Furnishing license and DEA license for schedule 2 drugs and above within 6 months of hire and maintains thereafter. Current certification by the Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nursing Certification Board (WOCNCB) as a CWON or CWOCN required.
ExperiencePrior working experience in the particular area of specialty is required. Prior experience demonstrating the ability to work with a minimum of supervision and effective interpersonal nursing leadership skills.

Hours of WorkVariable. Wound Care Nurse Practitioner time will be spent between inpatient and outpatient wound care.

CompensationHourly rate for $94.00 - $115.00 (Max rate is based on 20+ years experience as an NP in specialty)
