The Driver ensures the safe transportation of residents to and from appointments, activity outings, and other destinations, providing assistance with onboarding and off‑boarding as needed. The ideal candidate is friendly, patient, and dedicated to delivering excellent service to seniors with a high level of safety and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities- Provide safe, reliable, courteous, and efficient transportation service for residents to and from a variety of locations.
- Assist residents in and out of the vehicle, using wheelchair lifts or stairs; open and close doors; load and unload walkers and wheelchairs.
- Prioritize resident safety and satisfaction, ensuring all residents are accounted for before departing or arriving back at the community.
- Prepare the van/bus for operation and coordinate necessary vehicle maintenance.
- Maintain current vehicle license plates, inspection tags, and insurance cards in compliance with local and state regulations.
- Follow traffic laws, road rules, and transportation safety procedures.
- Hold a valid state driver’s license and meet state regulations.
- Assist with resident programs as needed, including activities and special events.
- Build positive relationships with residents through friendly conversation and support during trips.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- A valid state driver’s license.
- Must have a CDL Passenger endorsement (per state regulations).
- At least three years of driving experience and a clean driving record.
- At least one year of previous experience driving a passenger vehicle, preferably in healthcare or senior living.
- Experience operating large vehicles or equivalent training.
- Excellent customer service skills, professional, friendly, and patient demeanor.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, patience, and commitment to treating residents with respect.
