Overview
Vail Health is a mountain‑based healthcare system with a 520,000‑sq‑ft, 56‑bed hospital. The Care Technician performs patient care in support of the care team, often serving as the first point‑of‑contact for patients and relaying information between patients and providers.
This is a night shift position eligible for additional shift differentials: $6.00 per hour for weekday nights and $8.00 per hour for weekend nights.
Responsibilities- Assist with and perform patient care, including collection of patient information, accurate reading and documentation of vital signs, and recording input and output activities in the EMR.
- Coordinate daily patient flow and schedule to optimize patient care, safety, and satisfaction, including preparing rooms for examinations and procedures.
- Accurately receive and implement instructions and orders from providers.
- Demonstrate clinical knowledge across patient types and age groups to meet patient care needs.
- Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling, admitting, and discharging patients.
- Maintain diagnostic and medication logs and document patient care services accurately.
- Support a clean, safe environment and adhere to infection control policies and protocols.
- Display cultural competency and the ability to work with diverse patient populations.
- Maintain all assigned patient equipment processes, including cleaning, maintenance, and management of equipment such as telemetry, compression, and hot/cold devices.
- Model the principles of a Just Culture and Organizational Values.
- Perform other duties as assigned and remain HIPAA compliant.
- One year of experience as a care technician preferred.
- Required licenses:
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) by the state of Colorado or Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) by the state of Colorado. - Certification:
Basic Life Support (BLS). - Computer/typing skills necessary to complete online learning requirements and access online forms, policies, and benefits enrollment.
- Working knowledge of the English language (reading, writing, speaking).
- Competitive wages: $22.00 – $28.39 per hour.
