Job Summary

Due to the recent Proclamation:
Restriction on Entry of Certain Nonimmigrant Workers (H‑1B), VSU will not sponsor new H‑1B petitions until further notice. The Department of Teacher Education seeks a tenure‑track faculty member for the health and physical education program, beginning August 1, 2026. The position is on‑campus at the rank of Assistant Professor. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses (face‑to‑face and online), maintaining scholarly productivity, and participating in service at the department, college, and university levels.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching up to 12 credit hours per semester (Fall and Spring), maintaining scholarly productivity, and participating in service at the department, college, and university levels.

Typical allocation of duties:

  • Teaching and scholarship – 80%
    • Teach classes and conduct/present research in the employee's academic discipline.
  • Service – 20%
    • Participate in service at the department, college, and university levels.
Required Qualifications
  • A terminal degree in Health and Physical Education or a closely related field by the appointment date
  • Experience teaching PK‑12 students
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning, as well as scholarship
Preferred Qualifications
  • A record of effective teaching appropriate to the applicant's career stage
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative setting
  • A record of mentoring students
  • Face‑to‑face and online teaching experience
Proposed Salary

Commensurate with experience.
