Environmental Engineering Co‑ops (Spring & Summer 2026)
We are seeking resumes for Environmental Engineering Co‑ops at our Valdosta, GA paper mill.
Responsibilities- Work with the Environmental Engineering group to maintain electronic data compliance, including data input and quality assurance.
- Streamline and upgrade environmental compliance data management practices and assist with the creation of new compliance documentation tools in response to regulatory actions.
- Document control responsibilities for both electronic and traditional compliance document files.
- Assist with compilation of periodic compliance reports to regulatory agencies.
- Special projects for streamlining production data management tools utilized for technical and environmental company records.
- Utilize data from various mill data collection systems and software as well as manual operations records for compliance and comparative trending purposes.
- Assist with environmental engineering & special projects, such as landfill construction, wastewater treatment system construction, and residuals management.
- Assist with environmental laboratory analytical tasks and sample collection.
PCA’s paper mills operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year; candidates must be able to occasionally work long hours and all shifts, including 12‑hour shifts during annual outages and unscheduled shutdowns.
Basic Qualifications- Student in good standing, currently enrolled in Environmental, Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical or equivalent engineering program with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Express interest in pulp and paper manufacturing as a career.
- Pass a drug screen and be eligible to work in the U.S. full‑time.
- Work well under pressure, within time constraints, and multitask; build sound relationships with internal and external customers.
- Exhibit excellent communication, analytical, organizational, and computer skills.
- Independently make sound decisions through creative problem‑solving, ambiguity, and change.
- Work in a fast‑paced environment and handle multiple requests simultaneously.
- Read and understand technical correspondence, memos, instructions, and reports.
- $1,000.00 monthly housing stipend (if a student lives more than 50 miles from the facility).
- 1.5 pay over 40 hours in a week.
- Reasonable reimbursement of relocation to and from the co‑op assignment.
