Medical Assistant
The Medical Assistant will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the health clinic by assisting the NP and providing direct patient care. Primary duties include interviewing patients, recording medical history, measuring vital signs, assisting nurse practitioners, collecting and processing lab specimens, entering patient information into medical records, providing patient education, scheduling appointments, maintaining inventory, and promoting the student health clinic to Wiregrass students.
Responsibilities- Interview patients and record medical history.
- Measure patients' vital signs such as blood pressure and weight.
- Assist nurse practitioners with patient examinations.
- Collect lab specimens and process lab results.
- Enter patient information, including vitals and test results, into medical records.
- Provide patient education.
- Schedule patient appointments.
- Maintain inventory of medical and office supplies.
- Promote the student health clinic to Wiregrass students.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Work schedule:
Monday and Wednesday, 8 am – 5 pm. - Position is part‑time, no more than 16 hours per week.
- Equipment used:
Standard office equipment and various types of advanced in‑field equipment as required by academic program and accreditation standards. - Category I – High probability of exposure to hazardous chemicals/pathogens; no overtime; travel rarely required.

Minimum Qualifications- Certified Medical Assistant.
- A combination of related experience may substitute for the degree on a year‑for‑year basis.
- Graduate from Wiregrass Georgia Technical College Medical Assistant Program.
- Salary: $15.00 per hour.
- No health nor flexible benefits will be provided.
- This position is funded in whole or in part by state/local/tuition funds.
- No promise of full‑time employment exists.
Pursuant to college policy, a thorough background investigation, including a criminal history records check and employment history reference checks, will be performed for all candidates offered employment. Other checks such as Motor Vehicle Records may be conducted for any candidate receiving an offer, as well as internal candidates prior to being promoted or transferred into a position with the college.
