ScheduleFull Time, 12 HR Evening Shift, 12PM - 12AM
Position SummaryResponds to calls for service, providing assessment, treatment modalities, and transportation of patients in a variety of controlled and uncontrolled settings. Provides treatment interventions and advanced life support consistent with department guidelines and according to credentials issued by state authorities. Provides emergency care and rescue in a variety of situations where personal safety may be be needed to assist with the continuum of care in transferring of patients from one setting to another.
Attend required training and certification programs, maintaining certain certifications as required by the department or Medical Center.
- Currently licensed as an EMT by the Georgia Department of Public Health
- Must be currently certified as an EMT and must maintain certification in BLS.
- Must complete annual educational requirements as prescribed by Georgia laws / regulations, and department policies/procedures.
- Must be able to demonstrate ability to perform practical skills proficiently in BLS, on adult, pediatric and infant patients.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and a good driving history in accordance with the Medical Center’s insurance carrier’s standards.
- Haz-Mat Awareness. NIMS, ICPS Programs 100, 200, 700, 800 are required within 90 days of employment.
- The following certifications are preferred:
Advanced Medical Life Support;
Advanced Stroke Life Support;
Advanced Burn Life Support (if available);
Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support;
Geriatric Life Support.
Works primarily in hospital setting. Requires considerable standing, mental effort, stooping, bending, lifting (in excess of one hundred (100) lbs.), pushing objects (carts, beds, and wheelchairs), and operation of clinical and office equipment. Likely to be exposed to blood and body fluids, including infectious diseases. May rarely require accompanying and assisting with patient transport to another facility. Uses medical, office equipment, and telecommunications devices on a regular basis (e.g., I.V. pumps, fax, computer, and pagers).
