Overview

Peachtree Immediate Care has an immediate opening for a Certified Medical Assistant at our new Valdosta clinic location. Full‑time position: three 12‑hour shifts with a rotating weekend shift. Must be willing to float between the two Valdosta Clinics. Peachtree Immediate Care is a leading urgent care operator in Georgia. Get out. Get better”. The role will provide healthcare services to patients, ensuring they are treated with high standards of care.

Basic Function

Communicate and interact effectively with a wide variety of personnel and patients. Under general supervision, the Clinical Support Team assists the Physician, Physician Assistant (PA, PA‑C), or Nurse Practitioner (NP, FNP) in urgent care and occupational medicine. Day‑to‑day activities include patient intake, accepting and returning patient calls, performing lab work, general x‑rays, administering medication, and assisting in minor surgery.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate high level of interpersonal and communication skills to greet visitors, patients, and staff professionally.
  • Perform selected duties within the scope of practice.
  • Maintain and perform all required quality control and compliance measures.
  • Maintain equipment in a clean and safe condition.
  • Prepare and maintain exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments.
  • Prepare patients for examination and treatment; document patient complaints, vital signs, current medication, and allergies accurately.
  • Initiate care of the patient before the provider on duty’s exam according to standing orders.
  • Perform lab tests as directed by the Physician, PA, or NP.
  • Administer medications, including by mouth, SQ injection, IM injection, intradermal injection, eye drops, ear drops, or topical as ordered.
  • Perform venipuncture per policy and apply dressing as instructed.
  • Follow proper procedures for Occupational Health services, if applicable.
  • Follow proper procedures for collection of radiographic images, if applicable.
  • Provide direct patient care as instructed by the Physician, PA, or NP.
  • Ensure proper consents are obtained and signed.
  • Prepare and maintain supplies and equipment for treatments.
  • Assist the provider in preparing for minor surgeries and exams.
  • Perform wound care as instructed.
  • Assist with scheduling of tests, treatments, and referrals.
  • Assure patient as needed; allay fears and answer questions as required.
  • Exhibit cooperation and a positive attitude toward other hospital departments and physicians’ offices.
  • Follow procedure for authorized medication administration and narcotic control.
  • Communicate questions about the appropriateness of medical care through the chain of command as needed.
  • Make suggestions to improve work methods.
  • Other duties may be assigned within the scope of practice.
Secondary Functions
  • Patient discharge – review written discharge instructions with the patient or responsible party.
  • Answer telephone calls per department standards, relaying information as directed by the provider and documenting the same.
  • Complete routine equipment checks and stock supplies; notify appropriate staff of items requiring ordering.
  • Attend in‑service and educational conferences and quarterly staff meetings.
  • Maintain current knowledge and skills.
  • Adhere to safety and infection control standards in patient care delivery.
Job Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school for Medical Assistant; certification preferred.
  • Licensed Practical Nurses, Emergency Medical Technicians, Basic Machine Operators, and Radiologic Technologists must be graduates of an accredited school with applicable current State licensure.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
  • Reliable transportation to commute to assigned regional offices.
  • Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and with patients in a high‑paced facility.
  • Ability to escort or transport patients by wheelchair when appropriate.
