Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail‑oriented Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the development of manufacturing processes, automation, and the launch of new USV’s into a lean manufacturing environment.

You will bring manufacturing engineering and composites experience to lead development of critical processes to create high‑quality, innovative USV’s. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop new manufacturing processes that include infusion processes, finishing processes, automation integration, assembly, and manufacturing flow improvements. Engineer the solutions and then implement training, SOPs, tools, fixturing, facility changes, equipment startups, etc.
  • Create, maintain, and report on project charters and timelines.
  • Work in conjunction with product engineering to launch new products.
    • Design and implement tests and experiments for product and process development projects.
    • Composite Materials Kits – develop, maintain, and improve composite material digital patterns including for fiberglass, carbon, foam core and structural reinforcements.
    • Manufacturing Documentation – develop and update manufacturing documentation to be used by Production (e.g., lamination schedules, core and reinforcement layouts, process work instructions, quality management system, etc.).
    • Manufacturing Tools – identify and develop tools (ex: jigs and fixtures) for increased productivity or reduction of non‑value‑added costs. Ability to construct jigs, fixtures and right‑sized tooling.
    • Bill of Materials – coordinate BOM development and changes to improve accuracy, develop kits, etc.
    • Bill of Labor – develop labor costing for new products during Product Development timeframe and for existing products as a result of any ECN driven changes.
  • Safety
    • Personally lead by example by adhering to all safety policies and procedures to ensure the safety of you and your team.
    • Ensure proper PPE, tools, equipment, and material handling equipment is used correctly.
    • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment.
    • Be an active safety committee member, leading safety improvements and training.
    • Manage all material handling and chemical storage processes.
  • Quality / Continuous Improvement
    • Lead efforts to reduce direct labor and material costs by simplifying lamination, post‑finishing and assembly processes, selecting alternative materials, redesigning components, etc.
    • Engineering Change Notice (ECN) – identify, coordinate and implement any engineering changes with all affected shops. Utilize the ECN system to document and communicate defined engineering changes.
    • Production Support – work with Manufacturing Leaders and Quality Assurance to evaluate and address production issues, both product and process in nature.
    • Identify and report any discrepancies, malfunctions, or quality issues to manager or manufacturing engineers.
    • Be a part of new model design reviews and prototyping of new products and processes.
    • Adhere to all company quality procedures.
Required Qualifications
  • Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering degree.
  • 3–5 years’ experience manufacturing engineering, with experience in composites highly preferred.
  • CADD skills and experience – Solid Works and Rhino are preferred.
  • Design of experiments experience.
  • Familiarity with OSHA and other manufacturing management practices.
  • Strong understanding of ISO‑lean manufacturing practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high‑quality work safely.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced production environment.
  • Confident computer skills to use Microsoft solutions and ERP systems.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
  • Must be able to walk, stand, and navigate large indoor and outdoor facilities for extended periods of time.
