JOB TITLE:
Packer/Handler
DEPARTMENT:Molding
LOCATION:Valdosta, Georgia
FLSA STATUS:Salary Exempt / Salary Non-Exempt / Hourly
REPORTS TO:Shift Supervisor
PURPOSE:The primary responsibility of the Molding Packer is to inspect the product for defects and pack quality product according to work instructions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Ensuring safety is a core value and the top priority.
- Visually inspect product and identify non-conformities.
- Pack quality product into boxes according to customer specifications and Berry quality guidelines.
- Immediately place non-conforming product into scrap bins as soon as it is found.
- Read travelers and compare labels for accuracy.
- Prepare packaging in accordance with traveler instructions.
- Repetitive motion work with hands.
- Communicate questions regarding quality with necessary personnel.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation.
- Must be able to read the traveler and complete paperwork.
- Pack lids or containers from any assigned machine.
- Know which supplies are needed each day and where to get them.
- Report any safety concerns or problems to the Group Leader.
- Staff are informed and held accountable for their food safety and regulatory responsibilities.
- Staff are positively encouraged and required to notify management of actual or potential food safety issues; and
- Staff are empowered to act to resolve food safety issues within their scope of work.
- Make boxes, as necessary.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

- Lifting Requirements – Ability to lift 35 pounds over head.
- Walking/Standing – Ability to walk and/or stand for 12 hours per day.
- Work Environment – Regular work near moving mechanical parts.
Personal Protective Equipment may include: safety glasses, ear plugs, bump caps, beard/hair nets, and steel-toed shoes.

- Schedule rotates as follows: two days on, two days off, three days on, two days off, etc.
