Position Summary- Has twenty-four hour accountability for the overall operation of one or more nursing units.
- Ensures the delivery of quality patient care through proper implementation of the nursing process for all age groups served in the unit(s).
- Coordinates unit based quality assessment and improvement efforts.
- Manages unit(s) within established budgetary parameters.
- Serves as the primary liaison between unit(s) and other members of the healthcare team.
- Maintains an atmosphere which ensures SGMC Health’s mission, vision, values, code of conduct, goals, policies and standards are consistently met.
- Education, licensure and certification. Current RN license in the State of Georgia. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or related area strongly preferred. Current CPR certification. Certification in appropriate specialty preferred.
- Four (4) years experience in nursing or paramedicine experience (a combination of experience is acceptable), including:
Relevant clinical experience, Leadership, supervision, and/or management experience. - Strong clinical skills in assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation of patient care.
- Ability to lead and develop others individually and as a team, and to be an effective team member.
- Demonstrated ability to assess and adapt to new situations, critically think and analyze, utilize problem solving techniques, and set priorities.
- Demonstrated skill in verbal, non-verbal and behavioral communication.
- Demonstrated current knowledge of patient care, leadership, and management principles. Ability to operate clinical equipment, and office equipment such as computers, telecommunications devices, etc.
Works in acute care hospital, predominately daytime, weekday, with flexibility to work all three shifts as needed for patient rounds, staff rounds, and support of unit(s). Considerable sitting, standing, stooping, bending, lifting (in excess of fifty (50) lbs.), pushing objects (e.g., carts, beds). May occasionally require long, irregular or flexible work hours. Likely to be exposed blood and body fluids, including infectious diseases.
Mental effort to assess, plan and make or recommend decisions in complex environment. Physical functional capacity for healthcare workers as defined by the Saunders Method (very heavy).
