Diesel Reefer Mechanic

Permanent Full‑Time Refrigeration Diesel Technician supporting Ryder’s truck fleet in Valdosta, Georgia. Immediate opening.

Working hours:

Second shift 10:30 am – 7:00 pm, Monday‑Friday. Weekends off.

Hourly pay $32.50. Certification bonus $100 per new ASE certification, up to $700. Quarterly bonus up to $500. Sign‑on bonus $2,500 at 30 days and $2,500 at 90 days.

• Diagnose, overhaul, adjust, and repair trucks and trailers, focusing on refrigeration systems like Thermo King and Carrier.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, brakes, tires, etc.).
• Handle diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems.
• Execute advanced repairs such as major engine work, diesel after‑treatment, and fuel injection repairs.
• Maintain OEM on‑line diagnostic software courses and instructor‑led OEM courses.
• Use internal and external maintenance documents and diagnostic computers/software.
• Perform remote triage with RCRC and customers for roadside breakdowns.
• Carry out facility maintenance duties.
• Interact with customers/drivers to determine complaint nature.
• Instruct and advise other technicians; coach/mentor peers.
• Use shop management system and electronic documentation.
• Follow federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT).
• Support operations as needed, including Service Island support.

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Post‑secondary vocational or technical certification (preferred).
• Minimum 4 years of relevant automotive gas or diesel engine repair experience.
• Knowledge of routine preventive maintenance, diagnostics, AC, electrical systems, and advanced engine repair.
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred).
• Ability to use shop computers and diagnostic equipment proficiently.
• Basic computer skills (PC, Windows, mouse).
• Capability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Willingness to work shift, weekend, and on‑call duty.
• Preferred ASE certifications (PM, Brakes, A/C, Electrical, Electronics, or Master Mechanic).
• Ability to drive Ryder vehicles; must obtain CDL within 6 months after hire.
• Must pass Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and background checks.
