Position DescriptionImmediately hiring a Permanent Full-Time Refrigeration Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Valdosta, Georgia.

Compensation and Bonus- Hourly Pay: $32.50 per hour
- Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE Certification obtained up to $700
- Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 per quarter (four times per year)
- Sign-On Bonus: $2,500 at 30 days and $2,500 at 90 days
- Schedule:
Monday–Friday, weekends off - Hours:
Second Shift 10:30 am – 7:00 pm
As a Reefer Technician at Ryder, you'll diagnose, overhaul, adjust, and repair a full range of trucks and trailers while focusing on refrigeration systems such as Thermo King and Carrier.

Requirements- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Vocational or Technical Certification/Post-Secondary degree preferred
- Basic tools required
- Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine maintenance (oil changes, brakes, tires)
- Diagnostics & repairs, including AC, electrical systems
- Advanced skilled repairs including major engine, diesel after-treatment, or automotive fuel injection repairs required
- Four (4) years or more relevant work experience preferred
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
- All other certifications required by location
- Ability to perform all T3 tasks
- Advanced analytical and repair skills in vehicle maintenance
- Effective interpersonal communication skills
- Basic computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse
- Lift up to 50 pounds
- Availability for shift work, weekends, and on-call duty as required
- Prefer ASE Certification (PM, Brakes, A/C, Electrical, Electronics, or ASE Master Mechanic)
- Proficiency operating shop computers and diagnostic equipment
- Minimum tool requirement
- Road test vehicles as necessary
- Ability to coach/mentor/influence others
- Must obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
- Pass Ryder drug test
- Pass DOT physical
- Pass Ryder road test
- Pass Ryder background and motor vehicle check including drug/alcohol verification from previous employers for last 3 years

Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification; motor vehicle records check and a road test; and/or badging or background requirements of the customer to which you are assigned.
- SBTIII trained within 180 days (SBT
220) - Complete all OEM online diagnostic scan tool software courses as required (completed within 365 days)
- Complete instructor-led OEM courses as required to support location fleet mix
- Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties including standard maintenance, preventive maintenance, and complex repairs with minimal support
- Access and use internal and external maintenance documents
- Diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electronic problems with minimal support, utilizing diagnostic computers/software when applicable
- Perform remote triage with RCRC and customers to determine best solution to assist roadside breakdowns
- Perform facility maintenance duties
- Interact with customers/drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
- Instruct and advise other technicians on maintenance, repair procedures, and diagnostics
- Coach/mentor other level technicians
- Advise shop management and other technicians on shop repairs
- Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
- Work in accordance with all federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT)
- Other support duties as required (e.g., service island support)
