Job Description

WSP is currently searching for an Assistant Survey Project Manager to join our Geomatics Department in the New York Metro Region, with options to work out of our Valhalla, NY and/or Lawrenceville, NJ offices. Be part of a growing group of survey professionals working on a wide variety of internal and external projects, helping clients meet objectives and solve challenges.

• Full‑time survey office work in a supporting management role under senior management guidance, overseeing projects from start to finish and providing guidance to field staff, survey technicians, and CAD drafters.
• Work with staff from one or both our survey teams out of Valhalla or Lawrenceville.
• Assist in overseeing the production of survey plans and deliverables, scheduling and setting up field crews, updating project tracking software, performing initial QA/QC reviews, preparing reports, processing and reviewing data, and making boundary placement determinations with the approval of a Professional Land Surveyor.
• Work on a wide variety of survey projects in sectors such as transportation, environmental, commercial, industrial, institutional, and energy.
• Utilize drafting programs, survey data processing programs, project tracking programs, Microsoft Office, and other software daily.
• Interact with clients via email, phone, or meetings, representing WSP professionally.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
• Exercise responsible decision-making regarding company funds and resources and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and policies.

• Bachelor’s degree in Geomatics (Land Surveying Related Fields) with 3–4 years of relevant experience, or an Associate’s degree with 4–6 years, or 6+ years of experience in lieu of a degree.
• Prior experience in both field and office survey work.
• Experience or training in drafting programs and survey data processing programs.
• Experience with boundary research, compilations, and determinations.
• Experience processing and adjusting survey control.
• Willingness to learn and teach others.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, detail orientation, organization, and responsiveness.
• Ability to work independently, as part of a team, or leading a team on office tasks related to land surveying.
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and adherence to WSP’s health, safety, and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

• Master’s degree.
• LSIT or CST certifications with a goal of becoming a PLS.
• Knowledge or training in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Micro Station InRoads, Leica Infinity and Microsoft Office Word and Excel.
• Survey experience in the greater New York City area with public agencies.

Expected salary range: $75,600 – $129,800 (all locations).
