Early Career Structural Engineer

WSP is seeking an Early Career Structural Engineer to join our Valhalla office. The successful candidate will provide local technical assistance for designing, developing, and constructing building and infrastructure projects in the public and private sectors.
Your Impact- Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from the physical work site, surveys, blueprints, GIS data, and other resources for project development, design, and construction.
- Conduct basic professional structural engineering work including research and inspections of site conditions to ensure compliance with applicable rules and standards.
- Perform routine engineering functions and provide entry‑level technical assistance on various design requirements to ensure safety and functionality.
- Verify site characteristics and provide technical assistance on structural soundness related to environmental or human loads.
- Generate accurate documentation using electronic systems, drawings, 2D/3D illustrations, and work‑site logs.
- Follow safety guidelines and site‑specific procedures, including data collection and engineering studies.
- Complete training on assigned tasks and consistently adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct.
- Carry out other responsibilities as required by business needs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- 0–1 year(s) of post‑education professional experience.
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Familiarity with design/build processes and relevant structural and civil codes and regulations.
- Competent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficient self‑leadership with attention to detail and multi‑tasking.
- Ability to work independently under general supervision and as part of a team.
- Basic proficiency in technical writing, office automation, spreadsheets, and software tools.
- Familiarity with design software such as Micro Station, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS, InRoads, Geopak, Geo Slope, ANSYS, STADD, HEC‑RAS, and HEC‑HMS.
- Track record of workplace safety and adherence to WSP’s health, safety, and conduct policies.
- Ability to work schedules that may extend beyond a typical workweek.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project needs.
- Engineer in Training certification.
- Prior internship relevant to the degree or discipline.

Expected salary: $58,200 – $87,300 (based on education, experience, and location).
