Overview
Staff Physical Therapy Assistant role at Westchester Medical Center Health Network. As a Staff Physical Therapy Assistant, you will work closely with a team of healthcare professionals to provide high-quality physical therapy services to patients. Your primary responsibility will be to assist the Physical Therapist in implementing treatment plans, conducting therapeutic exercises, and supporting patients in their rehabilitation journey. This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering compassionate care.
Responsibilities- Work closely with a physical therapist to execute treatment plans designed to improve patients' mobility, strength, and overall functionality.
- Consult with designated physical therapist regarding patients' progress and/or need to modify treatment plans/established plan of care as necessary.
- Implement therapeutic exercises, functional activities, gait training, and modalities under the direction and supervision of the Physical Therapist.
- Monitor and document patient progress, including changes in mobility, pain levels, and functional abilities.
- Provide education to patients and their families on therapeutic exercises, functional activities, gait training, stair training, and home care activities.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive and coordinated patient care.
- Consult with team regarding appropriate equipment recommendations for the patients.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation.
- Assist in maintaining a clean and organized therapy environment.
- Performs related duties as required.
- Experience:
0-2 years experience in acute care and/or rehabilitation preferred; willingness to train a new graduate. - Education:
Associate's Degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant college or university, required. - Licenses/
Certifications:
Must possess a license and current registration issued by the New York State Education Department as a Physical Therapy Assistant.
