Health Information Manager
Blythedale Children’s Hospital, an independent children’s specialty hospital in New York State, is seeking a dedicated Health Information Manager.
Compensation: USD $90,000.00 – $ per year.
Responsibilities- Implement health information systems and processes to ensure complete and accurate documentation of medical treatment.
- Work with clinical staff and therapists to improve the quality and accuracy of patient documentation; manage continuous improvement of documentation in the medical record.
- Partner with Patient Access, IT, and Patient Experience to manage the patient portal, ensuring data integrity, security, and compliance with privacy laws such as HIPAA.
- Manage partnership with coding vendors to ensure timely, accurate coding of medical records; facilitate physician queries regarding ambiguous or incomplete documents.
- Perform regular audits to ensure department practices comply with AHIMA guidelines and federal and state regulations.
- Collaborate with patient accounts to track audits, denials, and trends from third‑party auditors and insurance companies.
- Analyze health information for process improvement, report preparation, and research purposes; identify opportunities to enhance clinician and therapist use of the EMR.
- Oversee Release of Information to patients, families, and other interested parties.
- 5–7+ years in HIM or related medical records roles, with 2–3 years in supervisory or managerial capacity.
- Hospital or large health‑care system experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of HIM regulations, coding, billing, and clinical documentation standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Analytical mindset with ability to generate reports, identify trends, and drive improvements.
- Comfortable with technology; experience with EHR systems, imaging/scanning workflows, and HIM software.
- Organizational, problem‑solving, and conflict‑resolution skills.
- Budget planning and financial acumen.
- Ability to work across multiple hospital departments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Health Informatics, Health Administration, or related field;
Master’s a plus. - Certifications:
RHIA preferred; CCS/RHIT or other relevant certifications a plus.
