Description

The Division of Physical Therapy in the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences, within the School of Health Sciences and Practice (SHSP) at New York Medical College, invites applications for multiple full-time faculty positions at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Rank will be based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.

Experienced faculty with an academic doctoral degree (PhD, EdD, or similar) and a record of higher education teaching and scholarship are preferred. However, recent doctoral graduates will be considered, as will DPT-prepared candidates with clinical specialties who demonstrate the capacity to develop a scholarly agenda.

Priority areas for teaching and scholarship include:
  • Neuroscience/Neuromuscular
  • Orthopedics/Musculoskeletal
  • Anatomy/Physiology/Applied Physiology
  • Geriatrics

Additional responsibilities include program administrative activities and service aligned with the College’s mission.

Research opportunities include access to a newly developed Movement Analysis Lab and collaborations with faculty across the School of Health Sciences and Practice, the School of Medicine, and the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. The program maintains strong clinical partnerships with institutions such as Westchester Medical Center, Blythedale Children’s Hospital, and Burke Rehabilitation Hospital.

These full-time faculty positions offer a 12-month appointment with a competitive salary and benefits package.

The Division of Physical Therapy maintains strong educational and research ties with the Division of Speech‑Language Pathology, the Department of Public Health, and the Institute of Public Health. The program was one of the first in the nation to offer an embedded DPT/MPH dual degree, uniquely preparing students for physical therapy roles in public health. Faculty also have access to the NYMC Clinical Skills and Simulation Center for teaching and learning.

New York Medical College is located on a suburban New York campus in the intellectually vibrant northeastern corridor, offering proximity to the cultural and scientific resources of New York City. Founded in 1860, NYMC is one of the nation’s oldest private medical and health sciences institutions and the first U.S. medical school to accept female students. The College has been a member of Touro University since 2011.

Applicants should submit a letter of interest, curriculum vitae, and other requested materials via the NYMC Jobs website. (NYMC Job )
