A Sr. Licensed Practical Nurse provides care to patients of all ages, within their scope of experience and training in the inpatient, clinic, physician office, outpatient and/or other facility settings. They must administer nursing care using good judgment, methods, and skills under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Physician.
Responsibilities- Observe, monitor, and record physiological measurements.
- Provide treatment to patients per organizational protocols.
- Assist providers with patient examinations, therapeutic measures, and procedures.
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate patients and plans of care.
- Identify and provide physical, emotional, and developmental patient needs.
- Provide health education to patients and their families, explaining the procedures planned for the patient.
- Responsible for strict administration, control, and dispensation of prescription medication in accordance with organizational policy.
- Notify the appropriate provider promptly of unusual reactions and changes in conditions.
- Perform functions of a Surgical Scheduler as needed and requested.
- Initiate, issue and verify patient referrals and insurance authorizations/pre-certifications as necessary.
- Safeguard and inventory equipment and supplies.
- Follow Universal Precautions and Infection Control Procedures.
- Establish communication with appropriate sources in response to emergency situations.
- Participate in performance improvement activities, staff trainings, weekly team huddles.
- Maintain a professional appearance and a clean, safe environment.
- Respect patients by recognizing their rights; maintaining confidentiality.
- Utilize technology, including specialized software as applicable, to maximize productivity.
- Develop and maintain electronic files as necessary.
- Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills; provide customer service; assist other support staff as necessary; collaborate with all levels of internal leadership, management, and staff as well as outside clients, vendors, and other external parties.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
- Act as point of escalation for other clinical and non-clinical team members.
- Train newly hired clinical staff members and provide ongoing training and guidance to team members.
- Order and maintain inventory for medication stored and administered in the practice.
- Minimum three (3) years of nursing experience preferred.
- Graduate degree from an accredited licensed practical nurse program required.
- Current New York State LPN license.
- Maintenance of current Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for Health Care Workers or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification for Health Care workers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
