COMMUNICATIONS & COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR

Title: Communications & Community Engagement Coordinator Reports To: Assistant Director of Communications

DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Communications and Digital Strategy or designee, the employee in this position coordinates day-to-day District communications activities, including content creation, social media management, website updates, event support, and response to routine public inquiries. An employee in this classification receives general supervision within a framework of standard communications procedures and style guidelines, and exercises judgment in day-to-day content and scheduling decisions.

This job class requires skill in writing and editing, basic graphic design and multimedia production, social media platform management, and customer service.


REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

• Draft, edit, and distribute District newsletters, press releases, website content, and social media posts consistent with District branding and style guidelines.E

• Manage the day-to-day content calendar and posting schedule across District social media platforms.E

• Monitor social media, local news outlets, and community forums for District-related coverage; flag emerging issues to the Assistant Director of

Communications.E

• Coordinate photography and videography coverage of District and school events; maintain a digital asset library of photos, logos, templates, and brand

guidelines.E

• Design and produce flyers, brochures, signage, and other collateral materials using standard graphic design and multimedia tools.E

• Maintain and update District and school website content in coordination with site and department staff.E

• Assist in coordinating translation and interpretation services to support multilingual communications and language-access requirements.E

• Support planning and logistics for community engagement events, Board meetings, press events, and District ceremonies.E

• Respond to routine public and media inquiries; route non-routine or sensitive inquiries to the Assistant Director of Communications.E

• Assist in maintaining District mass notification and emergency communication systems, including distribution lists.E

• Track website, social media, and email/text engagement metrics; prepare regular summary reports.E

• Assist with the planning and execution of District publications, newsletters, and the annual report.E

• Provide general administrative support to the Communications Office, including scheduling, correspondence, and records maintenance.E

• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.E


EDUCATION AND CREDENTIALS:

Generally, any combination of education and experience that could likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. A typical method of demonstrating these requirements would be:

• A High School Diploma.

• An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, marketing, graphic design, or a related field from an accredited college or university

preferred.

• Two years of experience in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing, or a related field.

• Additional years of directly related experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. There will be no substitution for the required experience.
