OverviewThe role is multi-skilled requiring a high degree of competency in mechanical skills with basic electrical skills. The role involves diverse mechanical and electrical work on rail cars and other vehicles including body work repairs, welding repairs, fabrication and basic electrical installation tasks. The role has responsibilities for Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) inspections as assigned and the maintenance of documentation for the vehicles and the work site.
The ability to drive a road vehicle and fork lift truck is desirable.

Installation of high and low voltage also WIFI and communications conduit and cabling. The installation of communication systems on buses and passenger rail cars - Electrician

Basic electrical wiring installation, testing and troubleshooting of passenger rail cars and locomotives - Documentation

Maintains vehicle history books and other production documentation
- The ability to work in a safe and secure manner using mechanical and electrical safety isolations
- The fabrication of parts & special tooling using standard industrial tooling
- The ability to install complex mechanical systems, structures, flooring, brackets etc. on passenger rail cars and locomotives
- Certification as a welder desirable
- Ability to read mechanical and electrical schematic and manufacturing drawings
- Ability to follow written work, process and testing instructions
- Mechanical skill including the selection and use of both hand and power tools for drilling, tapping, removal and replacement of mechanical parts
- Basic electrical skills for installation of conduit and cabling
- Basic computer skill, word processing and spreadsheet
- Interpersonal skills, able to work in a small team or alone with minimal supervision
Technical Trade School completion or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language SkillsAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals in the English language. Ability to construct and write routine reports and correspondence using standard computer software.
Computer SkillsTo perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic knowledge of internet software, word processing and spreadsheet software.
