Underfilled incumbents may be eligible for promotion to Senior Administrative Analyst once all qualifications are met and satisfactory performance is demonstrated, because we believe in growing talent, not just hiring it.

THE DEPARTMENTThe City Manager’s Office, within the Administration Department, is the hub where big ideas meet day‑to‑day operations. This team helps lead, coordinate, and support all City departments to bring City Council policies and initiatives to life. With a strong focus on collaboration, innovation, and smart problem‑solving, the City Manager’s Office keeps the organization moving forward and ensures the community receives high‑quality, responsive services.
Under the City Manager’s leadership, the Deputy City Manager oversees several key divisions, including City Clerk, Information Technology, Human Resources, Public Safety, and Government & Community Relations. Each division plays a critical role in delivering results, promoting accountability, and aligning daily work with the City Council’s vision, all with the shared goal of strengthening City services and enhancing the quality of life for Rancho Palos Verdes residents.
THEPOSITION?
The Senior Administrative Analyst plays a key role in managing complex administrative, financial, analytical, and community‑focused work for the Public Safety Division, including oversight of the City’s $8 million contract with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. This role turns data into action, supporting public safety initiatives, financial sustainability, and informed decision‑making by City leadership.
The Analyst will manage major public safety programs and help launch innovative solutions that enhance safety for residents, businesses, and visitors. Past initiatives include Public Safety Reimbursements and Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) cameras. The role also includes analyzing public safety trends, identifying best practices, and advancing efforts related to homelessness, crime prevention, and community engagement.
This position oversees the Public Safety Division’s annual budget, forecasting needs, tracking expenditures, and preparing financial reports and recommendations. The Analyst will also represent the City on regional law enforcement and public safety committees, working collaboratively with the four Peninsula cities to strengthen safety and emergency preparedness.
Strong analytical and communication skills are essential. The Senior Administrative Analyst regularly engages with City leadership, regional partners, and the community; prepares staff reports; pursues grant funding; and presents at public meetings, including City Council, committee, and neighborhood meetings, with occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
