Diesel Technician/Mechanic III - Entry Level
Ready to accelerate your career while helping our customers move forward? As a Technician at Penske, you’ll perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on the newest and best‑maintained fleet of vehicles, keeping them safe and on the road.

Main Responsibilities- Ensure vehicles are maintained and safe for customers.
- Use Penske’s tools and technologies to log, research and complete repairs, including basic diagnostic work.
- Perform preventative maintenance repairs such as tire replacement/rotation, component lubrication/replacement, some electrical and cooling system maintenance on gas and diesel engine vehicles.
- Partner with your manager to learn new skills through Penske’s technician training and hands‑on coaching.
- Work on other projects and tasks assigned by supervisor.

- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; vocational or technical certification in vehicle repair preferred.
- Basic mechanical aptitude and 1–2 years of automotive or diesel repair experience (preferred).
- Valid driver’s license.
- Problem‑solving ability and comfort using tools.
- Excellent customer‑service and communication skills.
- Ability to work well as part of a team and independently.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to understand and comply with Penske’s instructions, guidelines, rules, regulations, or other information.
- Compliance with DOT, OSHA, and Penske safety and maintenance policies, including correct tool and PPE use, machine guarding, and best safety practices.
- Regular, predictable, full attendance required.
- Current driver qualification file maintained as required by DOT regulations (annual MVR check, successful DOT Physical, Safety Performance History, and drug screening for CDL holders).
- Willingness to work required schedule, location, complete employment application, undergo background screening, drug screen and physical, and travel for training as needed.
- Move frequently, stand, walk, climb, bend and sit for extended periods throughout the schedule.
- Use hands regularly to grasp, reach, touch, handle, feel or operate tools or controls.
- Work safely at heights using ladders and elevated platforms.
- Work safely in all weather conditions.
- See and hear to navigate a busy environment with large trucks.
- Regularly lift or move up to 50 lbs (23 kg) and occasionally lift or move up to 100 lbs (45 kg); push or pull truck tires that exceed 100 lbs as needed.
